The portal Ranker is carrying out a survey on the funniest TV characters, with Family Guy's Peter Griffin in the lead at the moment.

Still, Griffin faces stiff competition in the form of Eric Cartman of South Park.

The third spot belongs to another Family Guy character, Stewie Griffin, and the legendary Homer Simpson is only fourth at the moment.

It seems like non-animated characters have had some trouble breaking to the very top of the list, with Sheldon Cooper of The Big Bang Theory being the first flesh-and-blood character on the list, in the fifth spot.

He is followed by Phil Dunphy of Modern Family and Detective Jake Peralta of Brooklyn Nine-Nine. The eighth spot belongs to Archer's eponymous agent, who is followed by Charlie Kelly of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, whereas the tenth spot belongs to Captain Ray Holt of Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
