Reconstruction works on National Museum in Belgrade completed – First visitors on June 28

After a 15-year break, we announce to the citizens of Serbia that the reconstruction works on the National Museum have been completed, Minister of Culture and Information Vladan Vukosavljevic said on Monday, April 2, 2018, after taking a tour of the institution.

He reminded that the procurement of display equipment for the permanent exhibition was being prepared and repeated that the building on the Republic Square would open on June 28.

The museum will considerably enhance the tourist offer of Belgrade, Minister Vukosavljevic underlined and added that tourists would be presented with Serbia's artistic and archaeological treasure, the Ministry of Culture announced.

– Around 400 thousand artifacts from various areas are featured in the collections of the National Museum in Belgrade – Vukosavljevic specified.

The director of the National Museum, Bojana Boric Breskovic, said that the completion of the construction works was the penultimate phase and that the great finale was to follow.

– The grand finale will take place on June 28, when we will finally be able to present our permanent exhibition, which couldn't be displayed for the past 15 years – she said and reminded that the reconstruction had been done in line with the project by Masino Projekt, based on the design by architect Zoran Jovanovic, and that the restoration, repair and adaptation had been carried out by a group of contractors headed by the company Koto.

She reminded that the National Museum had completed a thorough restoration of facade and facade carpentry in the preceding period.

The archaeological part of the permanent exhibition will be presented at the atrium of the National Museum, national culture and art, as well as art of 18th and the 19th century, will be displayed on the first floor and the 20th century art and the foreign collection will be presented on the second floor.
