NIS - Serbian company with the biggest profit - Economist's list of Top 300 has been published
The largest company in Serbia according to made profits is Petrol Industry of Serbia, and "Telenor" and "Jugorosgas" also made it on the top 10 list, it was announced today (December, 12th, 2008) by Economist Media Group.
In 2007, NIS registered 2% down fall of the profits to 252,8 billion dinars, and nevertheless it maintained the 1st place on the list of Serbia's most profitable companies.
According to Economist's Top 300 list of the largest companies of Serbia, the 2nd place belongs to Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS), as at has been in the last few years, holding a business profit of 120,6 billion dinars, which is 15% more than in 2006.
"Delta holding" found itself on the 3rd place, with 120,2 billion dinars of profit, which is 28% more than in 2006. On the 4th place is "Telekom Srbija" with an increase of 30,4% or 84,5 billion dinars, and 5th place was given to "U.S.Steel" with 71,9 billion dinars in profit.
- Remaining 5 places are reserved as each year to several new players - this year, those are "Telenor" and "Jugorosgas" - as it stands in the announcement by Economist.
On the special list are so-called gigantic companies, involved in several different sectors, and can not be ranked in any category.
The leader among them is 'Delta holding', with total profit of 1,5 billion euros (118 billion dinars, according the exchange rate on December, 31st, 2008).
Reviewed by sectors, most of the business profit is made in the companies within the energy sector. Their total profit in 2007 has been increased by 25,6% or 7,74 billion euros.
