Chinese companies interested in construction of Keles landfill in Nis – Potential replacement of street lighting

(Nis) Mayor of Nis Darko Bulatovic stated on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, that Chinese companies are interested in the construction of the regional landfill Keles in Nis and the replacement of street lighting in the city.

The mayor and representatives of city institutions talked to a business delegation of China, headed by the country's ambassador in Serbia, Li Manchang, at the City Hall in Nis.

– We expect the negotiations to continue at the Ministry of Mining and Energy in the next 30 days. After these negotiations, the Chinese company will present its proposition for the landfill – Bulatovic told the press following the meeting with the Chinese delegation.

He said that Chinese companies were also interested in a full replacement of street lighting in Nis and its maintenance over several years.

– The modern technology which would replace the current lighting would enable savings, but also a much better maintenance – Bulatovic stated.

According to him, at the meeting with the Chinese delegation, there was also talk about the construction of a logistics center in Nis, a scientific research park and light rail traffic in the city after the railway is moved.

Ambassador Li Manchang said that the construction of the landfill and the lighting was the first step in the cooperation between the City of Nis and the Chinese side and that other projects would be discussed with interested Chinese companies.
