Hrvatske Ceste and CRBC sign agreement on construction of Peljesac Bridge – Job worth around EUR 283 million

Hrvatske Ceste and China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) signed the agreement on the construction of the Peljesac Bridge in Dubrovnik on April 23.

As agencies report, an agreement on expert control of the construction works on the land-Peljesac bridge, which will connect Croatia's south with the rest of the country, was signed as well.

– This is a project which unifies Croatia. It has long-term strategic importance for the entire country – said Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, who attended the signing of the agreement along with several ministers.

He emphasized that the Peljesac Bridge had no bearing on the border dispute with B&H.

– This height and this span between columns allow our friends in B&H an unobstructed passage and everything needed for proper functioning of the Port of Neum – the prime minister emphasized.

Plenkovic also pointed out that the Peljesac Bridge would “remain a symbol of added value of Croatia's membership in the EU”.

The Government of Croatia announced that the value of the works on the Peljesac Bridge is HRK 2.1 billion (EUR 283 million), and that the completion deadline is three years from the possession of site.

The Peljesac bridge is the first of the four phases of the project “Road Connection with southern Dalmatia”, for whose co-financing the European Commission approved EUR 357 million in grants, amounting to 85% of acceptable costs.

Hrvatske Ceste had received three offers at the contest for the construction of the Peljesac Bridge, and the offer by the Chinese consortium was selected this January.
