RTB Bor excavated a total of 8.75 million tons in the first quarter of the current year, and the foreign exchange inflow from the sale of copper, palladium, selenium, sulfuric acid and bluestone amounted to USD 54.3 million in the first three months. Four million tons of ore was excavated, the processing of which produced 10,000 tons of copper concentrate.

From January till March, 4.75 million tons of overburden was also removed, a fourth more than in the same period last year.

The production in all three basins increased by 7% compared to the first quarter of 2017.

Veliki Krivelj also saw large production. Compared to Majdanpek, the excavations are bigger by over a million tons. A total of 2.4 million tons of ore was excavated there in the three months, as well as the identical amount of waste-rock, and 5,000 tons of copper concentrate was produced.

The copper mine Majdanpek produced 4,500 tons of copper concentrate, a thousand tons more than last year. Parallel to the excavations of around a million and half tons of ore, 2.34 million tons of overburden was removed by the end of March as well.

On the other hand, the new metallurgy facilities produced 17,358 tons of anode copper and 15,580 tons of cathode copper in the first three months, while also producing 20% more gold than planned.

In the first quarter, the biggest increase compared to the plan was made in the production of selenium, amounting to 40%, as 7,300 kg was produced. The production of silver (1,486 kilograms), palladium (13.2 kilograms) and bluestone (254 tons) in this period also exceeded the plan, whereas the production of sulfuric acid (72,039 tons) was comparable to the last year’s level.

The sale of all these products, except for gold, which is handed over to the National Bank of Serbia, allowed RTB Bor to realize exports larger by a third compared to the first quarter of 2017.
