Serbian Minister of Defense Aleksandar Vulin announced that four fighter jets MiG-29 would arrive from Belarus no later than early 2019.

– In late 2018 or early 2019, we will fave four MiG-29 planes more, thanks to an agreement between presidents Vucic and Lukashenko, just as we have six MiGs more thanks to an agreement with Putin – Vulin told Blic.

Vulin said that a total of 14 Serbian, Russian and Belarusian MiG-29 planes that the Serbian Armed Forces would have by then would not only be overhauled, but also modernized, but he didn't want to specify how much this will cost.

– It is not usual to discuss the numbers publicly, but I will say that the total procurement, overhaul, modernization, pilot training, spare parts and arms will cost a lot less than the market prices – Vulin said.

Talking about the earlier plans to also procure the air defense missile systems for the SAF, Vulin said that each army looked to be as strong as possible and that the same was to be done with the air defense system.

– I expect close to 40 different locally produced weapons, tools and pieces of equipment to become part of our arsenal very soon. Nora, a self-propelled howitzer, is among them – Vulin said.
