Public discussion about RTV providers rules - first licences in the first quarter of 2009
Republic's Agency for telecommunications has opened up a Public discussion about Rules of procedures of distribution of radio and television programs through cable, satelite and wireless telecommunication networks.
The draft of the rules has been announced on Ratel web site, and the discussion has started on December, 23rd, and will be going on for 15 days. All suggestions about the rules of procedures can be sent to Ratel via email: [email protected].
According to earlier statements from the Ratel, first licences should be issued in the first quarter of 2009.
Services of satelite television programs, DTH, are offered by SBB company, Pink and Romanian company, Digisat, which offer the viewers vairous packages of tv programs, and this area is not regulated yet.
Licences for broadcasting radio and tv program through cable network already have 79 companies, and this will not be changed. Except cable networks, the rules mention other fixed telecommunication networks.
Services of earth wireless network (MMDS and LMDS) will be offered by the company who will previously obtain a licence for using radio-frequencies, according to the Rules.
This way of broadcasting is suitable for rural areas which don't have cable infrastructure.
