There are currently more than 30 road and rail transport infrastructure projects in the works in Serbia. The reconstruction of the Belgrade-Budapest railway, which Serbian side will finance with USD 2 billions, has already begun and a few more sections of the most important corridors are expected to be open for traffic later this year.
After signing the concession agreement for Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport worth EUR 1.46 billion there are significant expectations concerning further development of air traffic. Also there are serious considerations involving water traffic which is not being used to its full potential indicated by the announcement of one of the biggest projects yet - the revitalization of the navigation lock at the Hydro Power Plant Djerdap 1, total value of EUR 28.5 million.
Since the geographic location of Serbia puts it on the map of most of the major European transit roads, private investors as well as the European Investment Bank are interested in investing in the improvement of infrastructure. Smooth roads and fast rail will certainly greatly please the shippers and logistic agents as well as domestic companies which will get its business chance within the major infrastructure projects.
`Transport as an industry driver`, the new eKapija Special Edition Newsletter scheduled for May 29, 2018, will feature the report on ongoing transport projects, its current condition and potential for further development.
We will showcase the present situation and trends in transport, the current stage of capital projects, the state of transport market, and the latest technologies influencing transport modernization such as smart and electric vehicles, self-driving trucks, modern navigation systems, software solutions for smart traffic management, etc.
We will interview all the relevant parties in this area - from the state-owned companies specializing in civil engineering and production of transport facilities and gear, investors to transport experts. In this way we will try show the current condition and also present new opportunities for participation of Serbian companies in major projects.
