orenje factory in Valjevo) Three offers came from China for purchasing at least 50% of company shares. As Seebiz portal unofficially learns the companies in question are Qingdao Haier, Midea and Hisense Electric.
The owners will consider these offers in the next few days chief among them being Slovenian Capital Fund (KAD) owning 16.37% of shares.
On the November 9 previous year Gorenje announced that the group would start looking for a new strategic partner due to failing to realize some of their key goals. It would have to be an investor who would be the company's co-owner and would help Gorenje with the long-term growth and development.
Considering that the household appliances industry has been undergoing a consolidation process in the west for some time now, a strategic owner from Asia, which might be interested in Gorenje for the possibility of penetrating the European market, has been mentioned as a potential buyer. The annual turnover of the household appliances market is around USD 250 billion, and the number will grow to USD 340 billion by 2020.
Let us remind that in October last year Gorenje confirmed that it had agreed to stop cooperating with Panasonic, within which it had been developing and selling washing machines and refrigerators in the European market under the brand of the Japanese corporation.
Gorenje has three manufacturing facilities in Serbia. Manufacturing center for refrigerators and coolers has been established in Valjevo, factory complex in Stara Pazova produces water heaters and the factory in Zajecar manufactures washing machines and dryers.
