Serbian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Branislav Nedimovic and UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi signed a memorandum on cooperation in the field of agriculture between Serbia and the United Arab Emirates yesterday at the 85th International Agricultural Fair.

– We will invest EUR 30 million this year, and we are also preparing projects worth EUR 40 million – Nedimovic stated and emphasized that the agreement regulated the field of food safety.

According to him, this field is important for the export of Serbian products to the UAE market.

As he pointed out, the agreement also defines the investments in agriculture that are already being realized, but also those that will be realized in the future.

– It's important to say that this is a market with plenty of purchasing power and which has a demand for quality goods, which, according to my colleague, we can provide – Nedimovic underlined.

The minister also announced new investments of the UAE in the processing industry.

Zeyoudi emphasized that the UAE were becoming a strategic partner to Serbia, especially when it comes to investments in agriculture.

– We are truly proud of what we've done so far with our companies which invest in Serbia, and this memorandum creates even more opportunities for new investments for both Serbian traders and ours – he said.

He also announced that a halal center would open in Serbia, which will require veterinarian certificates, expected to be issued, and added that the two countries would cooperate in the field of animal health protection in the future.

Nedimovic responded that the certificates would be finished by September and that the markets of Serbia and the UAE would have a free trade of food products.
