Hungarian customs officers at the Horgos border crossing have not been allowing Serbian citizens to enter the country in the past days, and some drivers have even had their registration plates removed, despite having confirmations of the renewal of vehicle registration and driving licenses.

Similar problems have been occurring at the Montenegrin border.

Unofficially, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia has sent an official appeal to Hungarian authorities to accept the confirmations of renewal of driving licenses.

With the amendment to the Regulations on Motor Vehicle Registration, the validity of driving licenses and registration plates has been extended from seven to nine years.

Let us remind that, since January 1, 2018, when the amendment came into effect, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia has been issuing paper confirmations of the renewal of driving licenses and registration plates to drivers in Serbian and English.
