Childhood classic The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by CS Lewis has been voted the children’s book that grown-ups in the UK most want to read again.

The classic fantasy novel beat Tolkein's The Hobbit, Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and many other childhood and youth favorites.

Two thirds of adults agree that reading before bed helps them to sleep, the survey found. The study also revealed there are certain types of fiction, primarily fantasy, which are more effective at relaxing adults, the Independent reports.


Among the top 30 books are Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Animal Farm, Treasure Island, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Jungle Book, Robinson Crusoe, Winnie-the-Pooh, Peter Pan, Catcher in the Rye, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Anne of Green Gables...
