The hybrid model of Fiat 500L, most probably to be produced at the Kragujevac plant, would cost around EUR 17,000, experts estimate for Blic.

CEO of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), Sergio Marchionne, stated last week that the production of Fiat 500L in Serbia would continue and that the model would also get a hybrid version, containing both an electric and a petrol engine.

Its future price, according to Blic, is calculated by comparing the ratio between the prices of hybrid and regular models of other producers. Hybrids are around 45 to 50% more expensive, and seeing how the regular Kragujevac model costs from EUR 11,500 up, the price of the future hybrid model is calculated to be EUR 17,000.

Marchionne also said that Fiat 500 would be an ideal model for going full electric and announced a new model – Fiat 500 Giardiniera, an extended version of the smallest model.

Italian media are now speculating about two possible outcomes for the Kragujevac plant. One is that the production of the electric variety of Fiat 500 might be put in charge of Serbia, as the hybrid Fiat 500L is certainly part of the plan, and another is that Fiat 500 Giardiniera might be produced in Kragujevac. This is based on Machionne’s statements in which he said that the production of small cars is profitable in Poland and Serbia only.
