Belgrade Trade Fair is not "monument of culture" any more - Government of Serbia revoked its last week's decision
At the meeting that was held yesterday (January 23, 2009), the Government of Serbia revoked its last week's decision about declaring the complex of the Belgrade Trade Fair a monument of culture.
The decision was made after the meeting attended by the representatives of the Belgrade Trade Fair, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Culture, Republic Institute for Preservation of Cultural Monuments and Institute for Preservation of Cultural Monuments of Belgrade.
The CEO of the Trade Fair, expressed the doubt last week that the status of the monument of culture would have negative influence on privatization of that company , and he submitted an appeal to the Ministry of Trade, the Ministry of Economy and the Privatization Agency to reconsider aforementioned decision.
He said for "Blic" that the Government's decision was unsustainable and that it had very bad influence on the privatization process that must be finished prior to March 27, 2009.
According to unofficial information, there have been some "misunderstandings in communication" between the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Culture, which suggested "higher level of security than it was initially planned".
