Brazilians loyal to football – Russian working hours during World Cup
Comments
Football is sacred in Brazil and it is almost unimaginable for Brazilians to work when their national team is playing. Many companies have therefore been forced to switch to Russian work hours during the World Cup, AFP reports.
Work in Brazil has slowed down due to the World Cup – large screens and artificial grass have been put in offices, free snacks have been provided, but also more flexible work hours.
Due to the time difference, the matches played by the Brazilian team, one of the World Cup's favorites, will be broadcast in the morning or early afternoon in Brazil.
According to the Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, 28% companies have allowed their employees to take days off when their national team is playing, and 17 companies have provided special rooms for games watching during work hours.
Employees in public services will also be able to be absent during the matches played by the Brazilian team, although the necessary services, as said, will work as usual.
The police say that matches will not be watched at police stations after all, but they note that it has turned out that there are much fewer interventions during the matches played by the Brazilian national football team.
