Zlatar Sumice dairy opens in Krusevac – More than EUR 1 million invested, jobs for around thirty workers

The Zlatar Sumice dairy has opened in the Krusevac neighborhood of Sumice, which will employ around thirty workers by the end of the year. They will produce sheep, goat and cow cheese meant for the Russian market, says a press release by the City of Krusevac.

Novica Savkovic, who owned a goat farm on Zlatar before leaving for Russia, invested over EUR 1 million in the reconstruction of the facility in Krusevac (also a former dairy) and the purchase of the equipment. The dairy now has the most modern milk processing and dairy production equipment.

Agreements on the export to the Russian market have already been signed, and the main purchaser is Molvest from Voronezh, one of the biggest Russian dairy companies, owned by Arkadiy Nikolaevich Ponomarev, a deputy at the Russian State Duma.

The dairy currently employs 15 workers and buys 50 tons of milk a day, and the plans for the next period are 30 workers and the processing of 100 tons of milk a day.

Mayer of Krusevac Jasmina Plaurovic says that the Krusevac area is predominantly agricultural and that a lot of attention is paid to this industry in particular for that reason.

According to her, RSD 40 million is set aside for subsidies from the local budget for 2018, and the current measures of agrarian policy in Serbia incite increased investments in processing capacities.
