MATIC: Serbia ready for digital integration within Western Balkans Digital Agenda

State Secretary at the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Tatjana Matic stated in Sofia that the investment in the information-communications technologies was the biggest challenge for an accelerated digital transformation in Serbia, the ministry announced.

At the ministerial panel held on the occasion of the launch of the Digital Agenda for the Western Balkans, at the Digital Assembly in Sofia, she welcomed the platform, which includes Serbia, and pointed out the importance of regional cooperation in the fields of digital trust and security, reduction of the price of roaming, development of digital skills and digital services and investing in digital projects.

She said that it was necessary to establish new models of financing for countries in the region, so that they might be connected and jointly finance infrastructural projects, the most demanding and important of which is the development of a broadband network.

– The strategy of the development of new networks, as well as the new Law on Electronic Communication, have been prepared fully in line with the EU Single Digital Market Strategy. The regulatory framework for cybersecurity, both the law and the strategy, has been adopted, as has been the new Law on Electronic Identification, Electronic Signature and Entrusted Services in Electronic Business, which will upgrade not just e-business, but e-government as well – she said.

Matic also said that the ability to use digital solutions and services will raise the quality of life.
