International tender for construction of HPP Dabar opens – Works worth around EUR 204 million

The managing director for production and technical affairs at Hidroelektrane na Trebisnjici (HET), Ilija Tamindzija, stated for Srna that HET and the Hydro Power Plant Dabar had opened an international public call for the financing and the construction of the HPP Dabar as a turnkey project worth around BAM 400 million (around EUR 204.3 million).

Tamindzija clarified that the call for the construction of a hydro power plant with the installed power of 160 megawatts entails the construction of the Poscenje dam with levees and a headpond, a pressurized pipeline, a powerhouse with the accompanying facilities and equipment, a powerline for the connection to the HPP Dabar, a drainage canal through Dabarsko Polje and an expansion of the Dabarsko Polje – Fatnicko Polje tunnel.

He said that three Chinese and one European company had been interested up till then and that the terms of the call can be met only by large world companies.

The deadline for the expression of interest is July 20, and the construction period is four years. Following the construction, the company HPP Dabar would be a full owner of the hydro power plant, and the repayment period for the credit for the works carried out would be 15 years.

HPP Dabar has already completed the preparatory works – the construction of access roads to future facilities, the powerline for the construction site and the water supply system.

– The main project for all the facilities and the feasibility study have also been prepared, and the process of the expropriation of land for the obtaining of construction permits is in its final stage – Tamindzija clarified.

According to him, the construction of the headrace tunnel for the HPP Dabar, which also has an ecological permit for the construction of all the facilities, is in progress as well.

With the completion of the HPP Dabar, the production balance of HET will increase by around 50%, and the completion of the construction of the entire Gornji Horizonti hydro system will turn the Trebisnjica system into one of the strongest hydro power systems in the region in terms of quality.

The HPP Dabar is the most important energy facility in the Gornji Horizonti system, which is one of the biggest investment projects in the region. It is worth over BAM 1 billion.
