Serbia will get a national stadium, to be built near Ostruznica, as confirmed by Finance Minister Sinisa Mali.

– This is not just about the construction of a stadium, but about investing in sports infrastructure. There is no reason for Serbia not to be a host of a European or a world tournament. This will promote the country in a nicer way and attract tourists – Mali pointed out.

The design studio Fenwick Iribarren Architects will prepare the project of the construction of the national stadium, and the construction should start this year.

While Mali was still the mayor of Belgrade, talks were held with representatives of the design studio, which has done a large number of stadiums in Europe and the world complying with the UEFA standards.

– Considering that we are planning the construction of a stadium for 60,000 spectators, which is a considerable number, the stadium will be able to host Champions League and Europa League finals – Mali pointed out at the time.

Several years ago, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, the then prime minister, stated that the government would set aside EUR 150 million for the construction.
