The Minister of Traffic and Communications of Republika Srpska, Nedjo Trninic, announced that the final agreement with a Chinese company from Shandong on the realization of the project of the construction of the Banjaluka-Prijedor highway, worth around EUR 297 million, should be signed in September.

The concession will be given for a period of 30 years, the funding should be provided by the Chinese company, and the project should be structured without B&H guarantees, Klix.ba reports.

As Tanjug reports, Trninic said that this B&H entity will oblige to carry out the expropriation of the land on the planned route, and there's also the possibility of having the highway, in the first, 42-km phase, continue towards Novi Grad/Bosanski Novi, and of having a high-speed route in the direction of Kozarska Dubica.

The director of Autoputevi RS, Dusan Topic, said at the press conference that this was the first concession agreement, as a new manner of funding the construction of highways in Republika Srpska, Klix.ba reported.

Trninic added that they had come to the 16+1 Sofia Summit at the invitation of the Chinese Embassy in B&H, in order to sign the agreements before the official start of the prime ministers' summit.
