Half-year exports of Fiat Serbia under EUR 500 million for the first time

According to the data of the Ministry of Finance, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Serbia exported vehicles in the amount of EUR 471.4 million to European and North American markets in the first six months. This means that it remains the biggest Serbian exporter for the sixth year in a row, though not by as much as before.

Same as last year, Fiat is followed by Hesteel Serbia (formerly Zelezara Smederevo), whose half-year exports amount to EUR 403.4 million, which is around EUR 123 million, or 44% higher than in the same period last year. Unlike Hesteel, the export of the Kragujevac-based car plant continues to drop and its half-year exports are lower than half a million euros for the first time.

In the first half of 2017, Fiat exported cars worth EUR 562.2 million, which is also much less than in the past years, resulting in the fact that, last year, for the first time since 2013, the exports amounted to under EUR 1 billion by as much as EUR 150 million.

Judging by the current volume of exports, this year's exports will amount to far less than EUR 1 billion, which used to be the standard until last year. This continues the trend of the decline of exports of Fiat 500L in foreign markets.

Apparently, not even the redesigned Fiat 500L, launched on May 25, 2017, was able to boost the exports of FCA Serbia this and last year, primarily in the American market.

FCA Serbia had the best export results in 2013, when it realized foreign exchange income of EUR 1.53 billion in foreign markets, and a year later, Fiat had exports of EUR 1.36 billion. In 2015, the exports amounted to EUR 1.18 billion, and in 2016 they amounted to EUR 1.07 billion.

Last year, however, saw an even bigger drop in exports, which amounted to only EUR 850 million.
