Modern greenhouses "Grow Rasad" opened at 1.3 ha in Irig - "joint venture" of Serbian and Dutch companies
New unit for production of vegetables “Grow Rasad” was opened in new
industrial park in the municipality of Irig (Srem) on February 14th,
2009. Modernly designed glass greenhouses at 13,000 square meters, equipped
with the up-to-date horticultural technology, represent a joint investment
(joint venture) of Dutch company "GROW", which already owns ten
companies in four continents, and local company "Rasad", owned by
Milan Karas.
In the presence of the owner and the management of company "Grow",
Ron JPM vad Dartel, the Ambassador of Netherlands to Belgrade, Dr. Radovan
Ercegovac, the Mayor of Irig, production in newly built unit “Grow Rasad Ltd.”
was started by Dr. Dragoslav Petrovic, the Provincial Secretary of Science and
Technology Development.
The Executive Council of Vojvodina provided 35m RSD for this 252.5m RSD worth
of investment.
There will be 30 workers in glass greenhouses of company "Grow Rasad”,
which will enable growing of both conventional and organic vegetables. The
company will also hire 15 seasonal workers and about 60 collaborators.
Modern watering, nutrition and protection systems in greenhouses are computer-controlled, while the system of efficient and energy-saving water pumps is robotized. The new technique also allows regulation of the temperature in the objects.
The fact that all waste is recycled within the plant is of great importance to the local community. "Grow Rasad" plans to expand the area under greenhouses to 60,000 square meters in 2010. The company’s export plan anticipates export of 80% of production to CEFTA countries.
