Serbian Health Minister Zlatibor Loncar today signed the Agreement on Construction and Reconstruction of the Clinical Center of Serbia with representatives of the best bidder at the tender and called it the beginning of a new stage in the development of Serbian healthcare.

The consortium of GH Holding and Delta Inzenjering sent an offer worth EUR 68,963,403.13, which entails the construction of 86,000 m2 of new space in the first phase, whereas the Clinical Center of Serbia will get a whole new Emergency Center and diagnostics department, with 20 new operating rooms and 500 patient rooms, the competent ministry announced.

The agreement encompasses the second phase of the works as well, which entails the construction of a new tower with 25,000 m2, as well as the rehabilitation of the long-since built podium of 60,000 m2, along with all technical units, parking lots and traffic routes.

On this occasion, Minister Loncar pointed out that the signing of the Agreement on Construction and Reconstruction of the Clinical Center of Serbia was another confirmation of the strong dedication of the Ministry of Health to having the local healthcare system become the best one in the region through investments in new hospitals featuring modern equipment and the procurement of the latest medical devices and equipment, along with the employment and professional development of young medical doctors.

– We are doing exactly what we've promised to the citizens of Serbia, we are developing and upgrading our health system. The new Clinical Center of Serbia will be the most modern clinical center in the region and raise the bar for the quality of health institutions even higher – Loncar said.

He added that investments would continue and that the aim was for works to start in other centers and hospitals.

– Therefore, I believe I can say that we've initiated a new stage in the development of Serbian healthcare, within which our health workers will soon be provided with modern conditions, whereas citizens will be provided with the best healthcare service in modern hospitals featuring the latest equipment – Loncar added.
