A big business-industrial center is being raised in Lozni Kalem and Vinogradarski Institut locations in Nis these days. These locations, on around 32 hectares, which used to feature test plantations and specialized institutions for the agricultural development, have already gotten their first residents. Large factories and facilities are being built there, which will start operating at full capacity from September 2018 and over the next year. Before this happens and while the development of new production halls is in progress, the City of Nis has built everything it was obliged to toward the foreign investors.

Thanks to the efficiency in preparing the locations and creating the conditions for the construction of new production capacities, Politika learns, Philippine company Ayala has decided to commence the talks on the construction of the IMI-2 factory between Nis and Niska Banja, right next to the factory which is to start operating next September.

– With the arrival of the first investors and the signing of the agreement with Philippine company IMI and Austria's Zumtobel, the city has taken the obligation of equipping the location fully upon itself. In the past year and a half, over RSD 250 million has been set aside from the city budget and considerable state aid for the construction of internal access routes, securing of supply with electrical energy and gas, telecom infrastructure and water supply and sewer system.

Internal streets and sidewalks, as well as access routes to the IMI plant of Ayala have also been completed. This company is bringing the construction of the factory in Lozni Kalem to a close, where 250 employees, who are now being trained, will start working in September. Over the next year, 1,200 new jobs will be created.

– The most important thing is that at least 500 workers, primarily electronic, electrical and mechanical engineers and experts in other fields will be employed at the IMI plant in Nis, which will produce electronic components for the IT industry and the automotive industry – Mayor of Nis Darko Bulatovic told Politika.

At the same time, infrastructure is being developed in the Vinogradarski Institut location for Austria's Zumtobel, whose factory is already producing devices and equipment for electrical lighting, and which will reach its full capacity as soon as early September. This factory will also offer around 1,300 jobs.
