Although founded back in 2006 as the first industrial zone in Vojvodina, the industrial zone in Backa Topola didn`t feature any facilities or investors for years. All this has changed in the past two years. Along with the construction of the necessary infrastructure, six new factories are being built now. These production capacities will initially employ around 300 workers.

Marko Predojevic, owner of Midmas, a company which produces electronic devices, will open another facility in the new industrial zone in Backa Topola in addition to the one that has already been built.

– Building a factory is a rather complicated procedure. The local self-government has truly made a lot of effort to facilitate things for us and for everything to go smoothly and quickly. In principle, we haven`t had any administrative problems – Predojevic says.

The Municipality of Backa Topola consists of 23 places with a total of 30,000 residents. The economy there is but a shadow of what it once used to be. There are 2,125 unemployed people registered, and the expectations from the development of the industrial zone are great.

So far, RSD 120 million has been invested in the development of the industrial zone in Backa Topola from the municipal and the provincial budgets. The zone is fully equipped infrastructurally, with water, power and gas connection and access routes.

– The highway is about a kilometer away, the Belgrade-Budapest railway is also near, and of course, the high-speed railway will soon be here, which is well known to the investors who plan to make investments here – pointed out the director of the Vojvodina Industrial Zone Backa Topola, Radomir Kuzmanovic.

The president of the Municipality of Backa Topola, Sasa Srdic, points out that there are three local and two foreign investors.

– We are also negotiating with other foreign investors and we hope that there will be even more investments in the upcoming period and that there will be even more factories in our industrial zone – Srdic said.

Aside from investors, the town in northern Backa is interesting to visitors as well. The expansion of the Vojvodina Industrial Park is expected, and Backa Topola also plans to invest in the municipality`s tourism potentials.
