Building permit for Dedinje 2 Institute issued – Expansion by 14,000 square meters

Deputy Mayor of Belgrade Goran Vesic handed over the building permit for the construction of the building of the Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases Dedinje 2 to the director of the institution, Milovan Bojic, today, Beoinfo reports.

– The new building permit means that a new facility of nearly 14,000 square meters will be built, of which slightly over 12,000 above ground. The size of the future facility is best shown by the fact that the current one takes up about 9,000 square meters. The same building permit also cover the reconstruction of the existing facility which will follow the construction of the new one. Once everything is finished, the institute will be entirely new and will provide world-class services – Vesic said and added that this wasn't just a big day for Belgrade, as hospitals and institutions take in patients from all over Serbia and the region.

Vesic added that he believed that this was one of the first large investments in healthcare in Serbia and that the next one would concern Tirsova 2, which is something that Mayor of Belgrade Dr Zoran Radojicic insists on.

Bojic said that, this way, the City of Belgrade and the Republic of Serbia had paid their debt to the most renowned healthcare institution in the field of cardiovascular medicine.

– Diseases exist only in books, whereas, in real life, there are only patients. Together with doctors and medical staff, they used to suffer in small spatial capacities. The construction of the new facility might turn us into the most renowned clinic in Europe and the world – he pointed out.
