(Zezelj Bridge) Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met with the head of the EU Delegation to Serbia, Sem Fabrizi, on Monday, August 27, and it was announced that the Zezelj Bridge in Novi Sad would open for traffic toward the end of the current week.

The event will be attended by Johannes Hahn, European Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations.

At the meeting with Vucic, Ambassador Fabrizi pointed out that the EU had invested more than EUR 30 million in the construction of the bridge and the access route, because the bridge contributes to connecting the region better and to further strengthening the economy and improving the business operations in Serbia.

Let us remind that the initial deadline for the new railway-road bridge in Novi Sad opening for road traffic was July 1. The opening was first delayed until roughly around July 20, and then for late August.

The reasons for the delays are allegedly down to harmonizing the protocols with the high officials of the EU who will, as announced earlier, attend the opening ceremony.
