One company submits offer for PKB

(Illustration) Only one company submitted an offer to purchase Poljoprivredna Korporacija Beograd (PKB) and it subsidiaries, the Ministry of Agriculture confirmed for Tanjug.
– Two companies bought the tendering documentation by September 10, when the deadline for submitting bids in the privatization of PKB and its subsidiaries expired, and only one company submitted an offer for purchase, the Ministry said.
The initial price of the property, including the capital of three subsidiaries, amounts to EUR 104,5 million and the future owner will have to pay for the cattle separately.
As The Autonomous Trade Union of PKB previously stated, they were neither satisfied with the model of the sale nor with the initial price because the value of PKB was estimated at EUR 314 million in 2015 and the previous estimate amounted to EUR 208 million.
The tenderer will be officially announced on September 13 at noon when the opening of the bids is scheduled to start.
The property consists of 17,000 ha of agricultural land, around 70 km of irrigation network, about 17,000 head of cattle as well as agricultural machinery, combines, tractors...
PKB currently employs around 1,700 workers.
As Vecernje Novosti daily unofficially learns, two companies were interested in once the largest agribusiness in the county – Serbian field office of Al Dahra Agricultural Company from United Arab Emirates and a Croatian company backed by Indian capital. They bought the tender documentation. The unofficial information also states that the Arab company submitted a bank guarantee which could mean they officially entered the “race”.
