The Yura factory, which opened in Leskovac in 2012, for which it had been given state subsidies of around EUR 7,000 for each new employee, and guaranteed that there would be no layoffs over the next five years, will move a part of its production from this town to Albania, Jugmedia reports.

The rumors allegedly proved true about a week ago, when this was officially announced at the Korean factory Yura Leskovac. In the first wave, according to the employees, as reported by the local portal, 350 workers will lose their jobs.

According to the information given by Yura employees to Jugmedia, which they had received from the management, the production of cables for floor installations, where, according to some sources, 1,000 workers from Leskovac and its area are employed, whereas, according to others, the number is 1,500, is to move to Albania.

– Employees fear for their jobs, but the managers are saying that not everyone will lose their jobs, only 350 employees, those who used sick leaves frequently and failed to keep up with the pace of the work – says one of the workers whose position is not jeopardized.

In addition to this one, Yura raised another factory for around 500 people in Leskovac, featuring modern technology, and the managers explained that some of those 1,000 or 1,500 workers would be transferred to the new factory, whereas others would be moved to other jobs within the existing factory.

– The manager expressed grief over the leaving of 350 people from the factory and congratulated the rest of us for staying – our interviewee says.

Another worker, a shift leader, says, however, that the promises of the Korean company through the manager are to be taken with a grain of salt and that these 350 workers will not be the only ones to lose their jobs.
