Albania to close all sport betting shops on January 1, 2019

All sports betting shops in Albania will cease operations Starting from January 1, 2019 the Government of Albania has decided.

The decision is already integrated into the amendments to Law on games of chance.

The law also predicts closing all electronic casinos located in main residential areas and their transfer to five-star hotels in urban peripheries, Al Jazeera reports.

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama sent the decision to the members of the Parliamentary Committee on Economy and Finance where he said that the betting shops will shut down on December 31 and that “online monopoly” would not be tolerated.
