(Cibuk 1)The construction of the Cibuk 1 wind farm in South Banat, which takes up 37 square kilometers, is going according to plan, and its commissioning in full capacity is expected in 2019, the German development company DEG says for eKapija.

So far, 57 turbines delivered by GE Renewable Energy have been fully assembled.

Expectations are big and the 158-MW wind farm is planned to supply 113,000 households with power, which will reduce the emission of carbon-dioxide by 370,000 tons a year, DEG says.

Let us remind that the project of the construction of the Cibuk 1 wind farm is being developed by Vetroelektrane Balkana, owned by Tesla Wind, which is a joint investment of the UAE-based company Masdar, the Finnish Taaleri Energia and Germany's DEG.

In addition to helping reduce the environmental impact of the energy sector in Serbia, the project has also contributed to the creation of 400 jobs during the construction, and local residents have been employed as well. Also, the completion of the construction and the reconstruction of 50 kilometers of new roads is in progress.
