Delta Agrar’s investments in 2009 cut to about 8m EUR – four times less than last year
Company "Delta agrar", a part of "Delta holding", has announced today (April 8, 2009) that it will invest between 7 and 8m EUR in promotion and expansion of production, which is about four times less than last year’s 30m EUR.
- First of all, we are going to have the existing projects finished this year, and most money will be invested in enlargement of apple production and construction of a cold storage plant – the Director General of "Delta Agrar", Dejan Jeremić, said at the press conference.
According to his words, the plan includes expansion of the existing apple orchard at 92.5 ha in Čelarevo by new 25 ha, commencement of construction of ULO cold storage plant with the capacity of 3,000 tons, and production of more than 2,000 tons of apples.
Within the next three years, apple orchard should be expanded to occupy 400 ha for the needs of export to the market of Russia.
- This year we will introduce 10 ha of vineyard with table grapes in Stara Pazova, while the works on construction of pig farm at farm “Napredak” in Stara Pazova are close to end – said he.
According to the words of Jeremić, the plan is that this year’s export amounts to about 7-8m EUR, which will be 2-3m EUR less than last year.
"Delta agrar", which has, among the rest, five husbandries and two farms, meat-packing industry, water and pasta factories and agrarian pharmacies, employs over 1,800 people.
That agricultural system cultivates 16,710 ha of land, 11,000 ha of which are in its own posession, while the rest is the state-owned land that is leased out.
