Last week, ASA Group took over Backa Palanka-based Zitoprodukt. This acquisition is a step forward for the group, providing it with a good foundation for the continuation of the expansion in the segment of commodities trade.

– ASA Group is a recognized brand in B&H at the moment, with over 1,000 employees and a presence in various segments such as services, finance, healthcare and real estate. As we announced earlier, we are actively working on expanding to new fields as well, and this acquisition is an integral part of our strategy of positioning in the region. The investment in Zitoprodukt will considerably contribute to the development and the strengthening of the commodities trade segment, in which we are already present through out trade of electrical energy – stated the director of ASA Group, Eldin Hadziselimovic, adding that the acquisition was an important step forward in the group's operations, being the first investment outside the B&H borders.

Southeast Europe is among the leading producers of grains in Europe, which is an additional potential for the further expansion and strengthening of ASA Group in this field. The investment was realized through a member of the group, ASA Trading, headquartered in Austria. An eponymous company is registered in Backa Palanka.

– The region is known for its high-quality farming products, as well as a favorable geostrategic position and a good logistics infrastructure. These parameters are a basis for the further growth and development of Zitoprodukt – stated the director of ASA Trading, Joao Batista Cardoso.

– Considering that the entire production is non-GMO, our position in the world market becomes even more interesting and creates new opportunities for us – Cardoso added.

Zitoprodukt has years of tradition in the field of grain processing. Its storage capacities amount to 22,000 tons.
