Erste Bank realizes double-digit growth of credits and deposits in 3Q 2018 – NPLs drop to 1.8%

At the end of the third quarter of 2018, the amount of Erste Bank loans to retail and micro clients was 27.2% higher than at the end of 2017, equaling RSD 64.59 billion. Compared to late 2017 the deposits of retail and micro clients also grew by 11.9% to RSD 63.19 billion.
– The positive trends in working with retail clients, enterprises and legal entities continued in the third quarter. The total loans increased by nearly 22% compared to the end of the year, whereas the total deposits increased by 15%. Furthermore, the NPLs are at the lowest level in the past ten years, amounting to only 1.8%, which is far below not just the Serbian average, but the EU average as well – said Slavko Caric, the chairman of the Executive Board of Erste Bank a.d. Novi Sad.
As of the third quarter of 2018, the loans to legal entities amount to RSD 66.18 billion, a growth by 16.9% compared to the end of 2017. The deposits of legal entities also grew by 20% to RSD 45.32 billion at the end of the third quarter.
As for the bank’s operations, its operating income was 7% higher at the end of the third quarter of 2018 than in the same period last year, whereas the operating expenditures grew by 11.6%. Compared to the same period in 2017, the bank’s operating profit is lower by 1.4% and amounts to RSD 2.11 billion, whereas, at the end of the third quarter of 2017, the bank realized RSD 2.14 billion.
In the third quarter of 2018, the interest income amounted to RSD 4.92 billion, and increase by 5.9% compared to 2017, when it amounted to RSD 4.65 billion. The net fee and commission income is higher by 4.6% and amounts to RSD 1.15 billion.
The total net profit at the end of the third quarter of 2018 amounts to RSD 1.68 billion. Compared to the same period of 2017, it is lower by a fifth, in line with the expectations. NPLs have been reduced from 4.02% at the end of the third quarter of 2017 to 1.8% at the end of the third quarter of 2018.
Thanks to the “Step by Step” program, civil society organizations, which multiply positive effects in their environments, are provided with the credit support for the financing of working assets and investment for the first time in Serbia. More than 80 beginners in business and social enterprises have been financed through the program since the beginning of 2017.
The number of users of digital distribution channels is higher by 10.4% at the end of the third quarter, compared to September 2017. Over 254 thousand clients of Erste Bank now use the internet and mobile banking. Erste Bank continued expanding its network, which features 85 units at the end of September 2018, whereas the total number of active clients amounts to 415 thousand.
