State Secretary Tatjana Matic reminded that it had been agreed in September at a meeting in the company's headquarters with Alibaba's vice president, Helen Xu, for all plans for the launch of the electronic payment platform Alipay in the Serbian market to be finished before the end of 2018 and for the travel offer of Serbia to be promoted in the Chinese market.
– After the negotiations are completed, we will make a joint statement on, I hope, the successful results and further steps toward strengthening the cooperation – Matic stated, as said in the press release.
As expected, Alibaba's platform Fliggy would considerably contribute to the promotion of Serbia as a destination, but also facilitate the arrival of Chinese tourists to Serbia.
This platform is especially important for the fact that the number of Chinese tourists has grown by 180.8% compared to 2016, whereas the increase in the first half of the current year, compared to the same period in 2017, amounted to 97%, the press release says.
