Italy's Calzedonia today opened its fifth factory in Serbia. A total of 300 people will be employed at the new factory.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said at the opening ceremony that Kula used to be an industrial center and that it will become one again.

– We are proud of the fact that 300 people will be employed here – Vucic said.

He announced that he would lay the foundation stone for a German plant in Kula in February.

The head of the management of Calzedonia, Sandro Veronesi, said that the factory in Kula was a new idea that they wanted to realize with people in Serbia.

– We want to have a concrete presence in the market of Serbia in the future as well – Veronesi said.

He pointed out that they wanted to make specialized factories in the region, which will cooperate with each other.

– We are convinced that there's a better future ahead for Serbia, which needs to be based on good income and possibilities – Veronesi said and thanked everyone who helped with the organization of the project.

Calzedonia, which produces socks, bathing suits and underwear, already has factories in Subotica, Sombor, Ruma and Apatin.

In Serbia, it founded the Gordon company, which started producing underwear at a then new facility of around 12,000 m2 in the Industrial Zone Mali Bajmok in November 2013.
