The Ministry of Finance of Serbia has extended the deadline for the submission of binding bids for the buyout of the claims of five banks in bankruptcy. The deadline was extended until February 7, 2019, and 10 potential investors have filed applications so far, Finance Minister Sinisa Mali told Tanjug.

The previous bid submission deadline was December 7, 2018.

This October, the Deposit Insurance Agency advertised the assignment of the portfolio of claims of five banks in bankruptcy, as well as claims on behalf of the Republic of Serbia, in the amount of around EUR 240 million.

The banks are PB Agrobanka Beograd, Nova Agrobanka, Univerzal banka, Privredna banka and Razvojna banka Vojvodine.

– There's a pronounced interest of renowned international and regional financial companies and institutions-investors, which professionally buy out claims. So far, 10 potential investors have filed formal applications and new ones have been announced as well – the minister says.

The decision on the extension of the deadline, Mali points out, has been reached in order to provide all interested participants with enough time to analyze the offered portfolio of NPLs.
