(Future look of the facility) The works on one of the biggest ecological endeavors in Serbia, the construction of the waste water treatment facility (PPOV) Zlatibor, worth around EUR 4.5 million, are in progress.
The investment began a year ago. It is funded with EUR 3 million by the Municipality of Cajetina, whereas the Slovenian government donated EUR 1.5 million. The completion of the facility, announced for the summer of 2019, will contribute to environmental protection of Zlatibor and the development of the tourism business on the mountain. The solution to the problem of waste waters will also benefit the Drina basin. The municipality announces that this infrastructural project, together with those that have already started, will make Cajetina one of the first ecological local self-governments in Serbia.
The installation of the modern equipment for the facility, produced in Germany, Austria and Switzerland is beginning. The test run is expected in the spring. The works are being carried out by the consortium of Slovenia's Hidroinzeniring, Jedinstvo Uzice and Beohidro Belgrade. PPOV will operate within the PUE Vodovod Zlatibor.
– The facility will comply with all European standards and provide an example for the entire region. The water let from the facility into the Obudojevica will be of much better quality than is proscribed by law. I believe that the European standard will be imposed on Serbia as well – the director of the PUE Vodovod Zlatibor, Rade Jovanovic, told the local media.
