– Ikarbus is a remarkable company in Europe, which will be able to make three prototypes of innovative vehicles in 2019 – Gao said at the Third International Conference “Belgrade Strategic Dialogue”, under the name of “Belt and Road Initiative in the Balkans”.
He said that China would invest a lot from the budget for the development of autonomous vehicles in 2019 and that projects for electric vehicles were in development in the country.
– As for Serbia, our impressions are very positive. Your country has rich resources. Also, it's a safe and stable country in the Balkans, with a good geographic position. These are the key reasons why we are investing in Serbia.
Gao says that the company has come to Serbia because it believes that the Serbian market needs electric vehicles.
– There's a great potential for the development of industry in your country and I believe that this is the key to Serbia's development. I want to thank the Serbian government for the support we've been given – Gao added.
A memorandum of understanding was signed between this large Chinese company and the Ministry of Economy at the Government of Serbia this year. The aim of the memorandum is the reconstruction of Ikarbus and the strategic partnership with LGNEA to the end of promoting, developing and modernizing the car industry and the production of buses and electric buses in Serbia.
