Ski resort planned on Bulgarian side of Stara Planina

(The ski resort on the Serbian side of Stara Planina) A winter tourist center called Midzor (Midzhur) will be built on the eastern, Bulgarian side of the Stara Planina mountain, Bulgarian media announce. According to them, there are investors in Bulgaria that would invest money in this project.

Certain environmental organizations and the Association of Parks in Bulgaria oppose this project, but the highest court authorities in the country have decided in favor of the construction of the winter center, explaining that the flora and the fauna will not be jeopardized. This is a green light for the potential investors, so it is expected that the idea will be realized.

On the western, Serbian side of the mountain, only the Jabucko Ravniste winter center has been built so far, but it is still not easily accessible, as there is no road on the Pirot side, that is, from Corridor 10, to this center.

Among the most numerous visitors of Jabucko Ravniste are wealthy Bulgarians. The plan for the construction of the announced ski resort on the Bulgarian side is interpreted as an upcoming “fight for tourists”, that is, for their money.
