Gomex plans to open distribution center for central Serbia – Potential employment of around 350 people

(Future look of planned facility) The first Gomex supermarket, the retail chain's 165th store, opened in the Belgrade neighborhood of Resnik in early February. One of the plans of Gomex is to open a distribution center for central Serbia, and as Goran Kovacevic, the director of Gomex, says for our portal, it will also be the company's biggest investment endeavor.

– We will continue opening new stores at an increased pace. Gomex is primarily present in Vojvodina and we must expand to new markets. We also plan to employ 350 people more. In the first two months, our results are better than planned – Kovacevic said.

When it comes to the expansion of the range of products, Kovacevic says that this is a continuous process and that the aim is for the offer to fit the needs of consumers. On the other hand, he points out, the physical shelf space determines the possibilities of expanding the range of products.

– The result of these mutually conflicting processes is a continuous change of the offer, but within a defined number of items – Kovacevic said.

The year 2018 began very well for Gomex, but the sales dropped considerably in the last quarter.
