Serbia gets CFA Society and becomes member of CFA Institute global network

More than two years after the initiative started at the Faculty of Economics in Belgrade, the Serbian Association of Investment Professionals (SAIP) has met the criteria for a full membership in the CFA Institute and formally become a member of the global network of CFA societies, which is also the first step in the further strengthening and promotion of the investment profession in Serbia and the region.

The inauguration was officially marked at Hotel Crowne Plaza Belgrade, and the event brought together over 60 investment professionals from Serbia and the region, including representatives of the CFA Institute. On this occasion, the mission of the society in Serbia was presented, being based on the promotion of professionalism, the development of the investment profession, the strengthening of the integrity of financial markets and on globally promoted values of the CFA Institute. The event provided an opportunity to give congratulations to the new carriers of the CFA charter.

The society's activities will be based on the strengthening of the base and the realization of added values for members, making the CFA Program and the CFA vocation more recognizable, continued education and promotion of professional and ethical values. A special focus will be placed on cooperation with relevant participants in the market – investors, regulators of financial markets, financial institutions, universities, employers and media.

There are 54 permanent members of the CFA Institute who own CFA charters in Serbia today, and who are also the founding members of the CFA Society Serbia. Furthermore, the society also has 40 associate members who have passed at least one exam within the CFA Program and who have an acceptable level of professional work experience.

CFA Institute is a global community of investment professionals, whose activities date back to 1947. It brings together over 160,000 members in 155 countries. The mission of the CFA Institute is to build an industry in which investors' interests come first, where financial markets function the best and where economies grow.

The Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Program is globally recognized as a gold standard in the industry, providing an excellent basis for the development of investment skills, advanced financial and investment analyses, and management portfolios. The program's curriculum entails three levels of testing, containing academic theory, current trends and practices in the industry, whereas its ethical and professional standards are meant to provide a strong foundation for portfolio management in the real world.
