Fees for environmental protection are proscribed by the Law on Fees for use of Public Goods and will be implemented from Friday, March 1, 2019, and the money that polluters and transporters of hazardous matters pay will belong to the municipalities and towns jeopardized by pollution, Tanjug writes, as Novosti reports.

The fees are paid by companies, entrepreneurs and citizens whose activities have an impact on the environment, as well as companies that transport oil and oil products, chemical matters and other hazardous industrial matters in towns and municipalities which have been designated by the Republic of Serbia as endangered living environments.

The fee for the emission of a ton of sulfur-dioxide is RSD 9,000, whereas the fee for a ton of nitrogen dioxide is RSD 7,200. The disposal of a ton of a powdered matter costs RSD 14,400, unless it originates in an asphalt base, in which case the fee is ten times higher.

The fee for a ton of plastic bags without additives is RSD 25,900, and the emission of a ton of produced or disposed hazardous waste costs RSD 1,500, whereas each imported kilogram of a substance that damages the ozone layer costs RSD 52.

The transport of oil and oil products, chemical goods and goods made of other hazardous matters for the industry or from it costs RSD 100 per ton, whereas other activities which have a negative impact on the environment can cost up to 0.4% of the annual income made in the past year, counting from the moment the activity takes place.

The fees are defined by towns and municipalities, which are also in charge of the control of the payment and the collection, and the revenues are paid to their budgets.
