Mirjana Donić Beaton, Managing Director of Canadian Serbian Business Association (CANSEE), together with CANSEE President Mr. Aleksandar Obrenović and the Ministerial Delegation comprised of the Minister of Mining and Energy Mr. Aleksandar Antić, State Secretary Stevica Dedjanski and Assistant Minister Mr. Ivan Janković, the Ambassador of Canada to Serbia, Macedonia and Montenegro, H. E. Kati Csaba and Trade Commissioner at the Embassy together with CANSEE members of Exploration and Mining Industry Group, are visiting PDAC (Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada), the largest international fair and convention in the field of mining, that is taking place in Toronto from March 3-6, 2019.

On Sunday, March 3, for a third consecutive year, Euromax Resources and Mundoro Capital hosted the “Western Tethyan Belt” session at PDAC. The session highlights the Tethys as an emerging and increasingly attractive region for mineral projects as demonstrated by takeovers of former participants of this Tethyan Session. This year participating companies are CANSEE member companies Euromax Resources, Mundoro Capital, Dundee Precious Metals, MedGold Resources, as well as individual companies Zijin Mining, Velocity Minerals, Euro Sun Mining, Eldorado Gold, Georgian Mining and Chesterfield Resources that discussed their projects, while insights into the region were provided by government representatives.

A technical keynote presentation by Tim Baker, Chief Geoscientist at Eldorado Gold Corporation, kicked off the morning session and provided a review of the Cretaceous and Cenozoic deposit types and resources across SE Europe and Turkey, was followed by a Government Spotlight by the Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy, Minister Antić.

The western portion of the Tethyan Belt remains underexplored yet is rich with mineral potential, low cost exploration services, local skilled workforce and good infrastructure. During his visit to PDAC, Minister Antić will also attend the IMMS – International Mines Ministers Summit where each year, Ministers responsible for mining and energy meet to discuss how to support a responsible and competitive industry that contributes to the sustainable development of local communities and the country as a whole.

In addition to the visit to PDAC convention, CANSEE, in cooperation with the Embassy of Canada to Serbia, the Embassy of Serbia to Canada, organized a Canadian Serbian Business Networking Cocktail with the goal of presenting Serbia as a good place for investing and improving business relationships between Canada and Serbia. The event was held on Sunday, March 3, and attended by the Minister Antic and his colleagues State Secretary Stevica Dedjanski and Assistant Minister Ivan Janković, H.E. Kati Csaba, Ambassador of Canada to Serbia, H.E.
