Plan adopted for general regulation of gas station network in Belgrade
The board members of the City Assembly of Belgrade have adopted the Plan for
general regulation of gas station network, with the report on estimate of its influence
on environment. The plan covers the territory of ten city boroughs, as well as
parts of boroughs of Surčin and Grocka.
Numerous initiatives for refurbishment, reconstruction or replacement of old
facilities and machines within the gas stations, launched by the owners of existing
gas stations, was the reason for making of the plan, as well as the need for
determination of terms and rules for construction of new gas stations. In
addition, there is a large number of gas station that are introducing new fuels
in their portfolios, so that the definition of rules for existing and new gas
stations is necessary.
According to the Plan, Belgrade is divided into five zones, so that only small
city gas stations can be built within the route of tram No. 2, while all types
of gas stations other than suburban ones can be built in the central zone (city
center, old city core in Zemun, future central zone in New Belgrade and part from
the highway to the Pančevo bridge).
Gas stations can not be built within the scope of complexes or at the parcels of cultural-historical importance, and they must not endanger public traffic and unpaved surfaces and infrastructural systems. They must be installed in the way that enables undisturbed functioning of public city transportation vehicles, lower traffic rate at the junctions, as well as appropriate fire protection in the vicinity of public city transportation platforms.
