"Univerzum" to invest 5m EUR in brick kiln in inđija
- Automation and robotization are some of the ways for improvement of efficiency and making of savings, and we have invested 6m EUR in brick factory "Univerzum", the unit in Inđija, and we intend to invest another 5m EUR. It will be the most modern factory of the kind in Serbia and the region – said the CEO of that factory in Inđija, Milan Jeftić, on the occasion of commencement of automated production in Inđija-based brick kiln.
Since automation in this factory was at low level, the owners of company "Univerzum" from Aranđelovac, brothers Branko and Zoran Spasojević, who have bought the brick kiln that exists for 130 years, decided to make it the most modern brick factory in Serbia and one of the best in the region.
Today, instead of last year’s 130 workers, the factory has 80 employees and, once the second phase of investment is finished, the number of workers will grow to 100. Also, daily production will be increased from 30,000 to 45,000 pcs. Two more robots should be introduced in the second phase, and the plan is that 80,000 pieces of giter blocks be manufactured every day.
By the way, Serbian companies have done the complete automation process in the brick kiln. The first Serbian factory of robotic lines, "ICM Electronics", has done the robotic share of works and integrated two different robotic hands in this process. People in the factory say that export is not going to represent a problem now that they have top-quality products, especially giter blocks, which are in high demand in Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary and former Yugoslav republics.
