Invitation for creditors of companies that will be liquidated
The Privatization Agency announced today (July 13, 2009) the list of 235 companies for compulsory liquidation and sent the first invitation to the creditors of those companies to submit their claims.
- Creditors will be able to submit their claims within the next 15 days - it is stated in the ad that was published in newspaper "Politika".
The claims will not be taken in consideration if they are not submitted within 30 days from the day the last, that is, the third announcement about commencement of compulsory liquidation is published or if the claims are questioned and creditors fail to lodge complaint with the authorized court before the deadline.
The list of the companies for compulsory liquidation includes: sugar plant "Požarevac", "Farmakoop" from Šabac, "Juko" from Žitište, textile company "Vlasinka" from Vlasotince, "Utva-stin" from Pančevo, agricultural combine "Spasoje Stejić" from Novi Kneževac, Zrenjanin-based company for design of protective means "Emona", Dairy from Sevojno, etc.
The Minister of Labor and Social Policy, Rasim Ljajić, said to the press that there were no information on the number of workers who had been laid off because of the privatization, bankruptcy or liquidation.
- According to the data provided by trade unions, about 300,000 people have been left without jobs because of the privatization, bankruptcy or liquidation since year 2000 - said Ljajic.
The Minister of Labor said that, according to the current information, "Serbia has 40,000 more unemployed people now than in December 2008" and that "about 2.500 people are dismissed every month as surplus manpower".
