Viber stops roaming, introduces subscription and local numbers

The users of one the most popular apps will soon be able to text and make calls anywhere in the world, as if roaming didn't exist!
The local Viber number, that is, the virtual number of the country where the user is located, enables everyone who has to travel a lot to make and receive calls and send and receive text messages without additional costs to a from any number in the country or the world that is not connected to the Viber app, but with an active internet connection.
This service will be available through subscription, a sort of a monthly rent of a Viber Local Number, which enables users to use a local phone number, for each country individually, for receiving calls and text messages from anyone, including those not using Viber, at the tariff of the country the user is located in, without roaming costs for the recipient and regardless of where they are located.
This means that roaming costs are removed, whereas only the local tariff is charged to the calls, along with the monthly Viber Local Number subscription for the user in roaming.
Still, Viber notes that the user must have an active internet connection to make all this work and that all communication (text messages and calls) is carried out through the Viber app.
Who is VLN meant for?
When traveling, business people will be able to give their clients their local number, making them available regardless of their current location. Those who are often on the move and often traveling abroad will be able to use this number to confirm reservations, tourist visits and similar activities which often require additional or unplanned costs.
Users temporarily employed abroad, as well as travelers in general, will also be available for calls and text messages from their mother country while they are away, without additional costs, thanks to this number.
What does the subscription cost, who can get a VLN?
The Viber Local Number (VLN) will be available to users worldwide, first in Great Britain, USA and Canada, and then everywhere else as well. It will provide users with unlimited calls and text massages through the Viber app, as long as the user is connected to the internet.
As part of the campaign, Viber will offer a promotional subscription for the first 10,000 users at the price of USD 1.99 a month. The standard offer, which will apply following the completion of the promotional period, costs RSD 4,99 a month and can be canceled at the end of every month, without additional costs.
Once the service is activated, of which the users will be notified through the app, the VLN can be activated right away.
