Ada Bridge to open for tram traffic on July 5 – Tracks being laid down, works to be completed by early June

The Ada Bridge will open for tram traffic, which will connect Banovo Brdo and Rakovica with New Belgrade, on July 5, Deputy Mayor of Belgrade Goran Vesic announced on Sunday, May 27.

Vesic told the press that he had visited the bridge and made sure that everything was going according to plan, Beoinfo reports.

– We are finishing the laying down of the tram tracks and everything should be completed on June 5, when both coasts of the Sava will be linked, meaning that there will be a tram connection between Banovo Brdo and Rakovica on the one side and New Belgrade on the other – Vesic said.

He clarified that the first tram on the Ada Bridge will go for a test ride on June 5, and that, in line with the Serbian law, the testing will take a month, as all the switches need to be synchronized.

– Two stops are being prepared on each side of the bridge, so we will have a tram connection here on July 5, as well as some new lines and some slightly changed lines – Vesic emphasized.

As he said, residents of Banovo Brdo and Rakovica will have a direct connection with New Belgrade, and residents of New Belgrade will be able to reach Banovo Brdo and Rakovica, as well as the old railway station, directly.

– This is a big thing for Belgrade, which is very important, as this is another bridge providing a tram connection between the old and the new parts of the city – Vesic said.
